Jairam Thakur, the Leader of the Opposition in Himachal Pradesh, has accused the state government of invading his privacy by using drones to monitor his residence, claiming that this surveillance is part of a broader pattern of harassment that includes phone tapping. Thakur stated that he has repeatedly noticed drones flying above his house, calling it a shameful violation of privacy. In response, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu denied these allegations, suggesting that the drones are part of a geographic information mapping initiative, and assured that any legitimate concerns would be investigated. The opposition has expressed frustration over the government's lack of transparency, particularly regarding recent liquor vend auctions, which they allege were conducted below reserve prices. Sukhu countered these claims by highlighting the revenue generated from these auctions and criticized the previous BJP government for not holding auctions during their tenure. The ongoing dispute has led to heightened tensions in the state assembly, with opposition leaders demanding accountability and transparency from the government.
