Denver Appoints Bergstraser as New Basketball Coach

Tim Bergstraser has been appointed as the University of Denver's men's basketball coach after a successful three-year tenure at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), where he led the team to a 75-22 record and significant achievements, including reaching the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen. Bergstraser replaces Jeff Wulbrun, who parted ways with Denver after a 53-74 record. His hiring marks a significant change for the Pioneers, who have struggled to achieve a winning record since 2017. Bergstraser brings a history of success, having previously served as an assistant coach at several universities and played at St. Cloud State. The transition could see several MSUM players, including notable talents like Carson Johnson, transferring to Denver. Denver's athletic director, Josh Berlo, emphasized the need for a high-character leader familiar with the Summit League, which he believes Bergstraser embodies.
