New York Judge Dismisses Multiple Sexual Battery Lawsuits Against Diddy Over Statute Limitations
A New York judge has dismissed a civil lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs that accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting a 23-year-old artist at a 2015 nightclub event, ruling the claim was filed beyond the statute of limitations. The court found that the 2019 law extending the statute of limitations to 20 years does not apply retroactively, and the original five-year limit at the time of the alleged incident barred the case. The lawsuit, which also named Combs’ companies Bad Boy Entertainment and Combs Enterprises, was dismissed in full, marking another legal victory for Combs amid numerous ongoing civil cases and a pending federal criminal sentencing scheduled for October 3. Plaintiff’s attorney Tony Buzbee stated that the case would not end due to this procedural dismissal and vowed to pursue trial on the merits. This dismissal follows recent rulings in Combs’ favor, including a separate $60 million suit that was also dismissed for being filed too late. Combs remains in custody awaiting sentencing after being acquitted of racketeering and sex-trafficking charges but convicted on two counts of interstate prostitution.
