Lucero Charged with Murder of Virginia Montoya

Dany Lucero, 36, was arrested and charged with the murder of his grandmother-in-law, 78-year-old Virginia Montoya, in Clovis, NM, after she was shot while answering her front door. The incident occurred on the 1300 block of Traver Street, and Montoya succumbed to her injuries at Plains Regional Medical Center. Surveillance footage led to Lucero's identification and subsequent arrest in the 4100 block of Cottonwood Drive. The Major Crimes Unit of the 9th Judicial District is actively investigating the case, and Clovis Police are seeking public assistance in reviewing home security footage for any relevant evidence.
