Venice Film Festival 2024 Announces Award Winners

The 81st Venice Film Festival concluded with the Golden Lion awarded to Pedro Almodóvar's English-language film 'The Room Next Door', which received an impressive 18-minute standing ovation. The Silver Lion for Best Director went to Brady Corbet for 'The Brutalist', a film about a Holocaust survivor, while Maura Delpero's 'Vermiglio' was also recognized with the Silver Lion. Nicole Kidman won Best Actress for her role in 'Babygirl', and Vincent Lindon secured Best Actor for 'The Quiet Son'. Notably, no Ukrainian films were among the winners, continuing a trend from the previous year. The festival, which showcased a star-studded lineup, was seen as a significant precursor to the upcoming awards season. Other notable awards included Best Screenplay for 'I'm Still Here' and the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor going to Paul Kircher.
