Women's Final Four Moving to Lucas Oil Stadium
The NCAA announced the 2028 Women’s Final Four will move from Gainbridge Fieldhouse to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, adding roughly 13,000 seats by using about half of the Colts’ roughly 70,000‑seat venue. It will be the first time the women’s Final Four is played in a football stadium since 2005, reflecting rising demand, recent sellouts and higher secondary‑market ticket prices. The Division I Women’s Basketball Committee voted to retain the current preliminary‑round model — campus sites for the First Four and first/second rounds, then two regional sites for the Sweet 16/Elite Eight — through at least the 2030–31 season, citing survey support of about 85%. Indianapolis will also host the Division II and III championships in 2028 as local officials promote the city as a hub for women’s sports. The committee said data supports keeping the current format but it will continue to review competition formats to best serve participants and fans.
