Thieves Steal Over $150,000 from Greenfield ATM

An unusual ATM theft occurred in Greenfield, Massachusetts, where thieves stole over $150,000 from the iconic 'ATM Tree' located at Big Y Plaza on December 6. The suspects used a stolen Ford pickup truck to pull off the front of the ATM, exposing cash cartridges, before fleeing the scene in a rented vehicle from Texas. Surveillance footage captured the suspects abandoning the truck, which was left stuck after an attempted getaway. Greenfield Savings Bank expressed disappointment over the vandalism of their beloved ATM, which has been a community landmark since 2008, especially during the busy holiday season. Local police are conducting an extensive investigation to apprehend the culprits and have urged residents to remain vigilant around ATMs. The ATM remains boarded up and will be out of service until further notice as damage assessments are underway.
