Bombay High Court Halts Eviction for Shilpa Shetty

The Bombay High Court has paused eviction notices issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra, pending the couple's appeal against a property attachment order in a money laundering case linked to a Ponzi cryptocurrency scam. The ED had sought to evict the couple from their Juhu residence and a Pune farmhouse following an attachment of properties valued at approximately Rs 97.79 crore. The court ruled that the eviction notices would not be enforced until the appeal is heard, allowing the couple two weeks to seek further relief if the appellate authority's decision is unfavorable. The couple's lawyer argued that the notices were arbitrary and highlighted their cooperation with the ED's investigation. Shetty and Kundra deny involvement in the alleged scam, which involved promises of high returns on Bitcoin investments. The case is part of ongoing investigations into a broader scheme that reportedly defrauded investors of Rs 6,600 crore.
