Deputies Injured, Fatality in Three-State Crash Incidents
Three separate crashes involving sheriff's deputies occurred in Kentucky, Mississippi, and North Carolina. In Wake County, North Carolina, a deputy responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens was involved in a crash with two other vehicles near Apex, resulting in minor injuries to the deputy and no serious injuries to others. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating that incident. In Rankin County, Mississippi, a deputy was hospitalized in stable condition after another vehicle reportedly pulled in front of his patrol car while he was responding to a possible home invasion; the other driver was also hospitalized. In Corbin, Kentucky, a Knox County deputy's attempt to stop a UTV led to a collision that killed the 20-year-old UTV driver, while the deputy and a passenger were unharmed. Investigations into all three crashes are ongoing.
