Utah quarterback Cam Rising exited the game against Baylor late in the second quarter with a hand injury after being shoved into water coolers on the Baylor sideline. Rising completed 8 of 14 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, helping Utah build a 23-0 lead before his departure. He was seen with taped fingers on his throwing hand and did not return to play, being replaced by freshman Isaac Wilson. Rising, who missed all of the 2023 season due to a knee injury, is expected to undergo X-rays but his injury is not considered serious according to Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. Utah ultimately won the game 23-12, and Rising's status for the next game remains uncertain.
