Island Games Begin in Orkney with 2,000 Athletes from 24 Islands

The 2025 International Island Games have commenced in Orkney, Scotland, hosting over 2,000 athletes from 24 island groups competing in 12 sports. Teams have traveled great distances, including the Falkland Islands, which made an 8,200-mile journey, and the Isle of Wight, whose nearly 100 athletes undertook an 800-mile trip by ferry and coach.
