Maryam Mohammadi Opens Silk Road Photo Exhibit
A photography exhibition titled ‘Once there was, and once there wasn’t – Styrian Tales from the Silk Road’ was inaugurated at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, showcasing fairy tales from six Silk Road countries: Iran, India, China, Mongolia, Georgia, and Greece. Curated by Austrian artist Maryam Mohammadi, the exhibition features staged photography that captures narratives shared by female migrants now living in Austria. Each tale, accompanied by a QR code for audio storytelling in German or English, highlights the unique cultures and histories of these nations. The exhibition runs until October 13, aiming to deepen understanding of cultural exchanges along the historic trade route. The event was attended by dignitaries including Austrian Charge d’Affaires Hannes Machor and PNCA Director General Muhammad Ayoub Jamali. Mohammadi expressed the personal significance of the project, emphasizing the importance of audience engagement with her art.
