Driver killed in high-speed crash with tanker truck near Bartow

A high-speed collision on State Road 60 near Bartow, Florida, resulted in the death of a man driving a Honda Pilot SUV on Thursday evening. The Polk County Sheriff's Office reported that the SUV, traveling at a very high rate of speed, collided with the rear wheels of a semi-truck and tanker trailer, causing the trailer to lift off the ground. The driver of the SUV was found dead at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the semi-truck driver was unharmed. Investigators revealed that the semi-truck was making a left turn when the collision occurred. The road was closed for approximately four hours as officials conducted their investigation. No charges are expected as the investigation remains open.
