Casey O'Brien Wins 2025 Patty Kazmaier Award

Wisconsin women's hockey forward Casey O'Brien has capped a record-setting season by winning the 2025 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented to the top player in women's Division I college hockey. O'Brien, who has led the NCAA with 88 points in 40 games, becomes the sixth player from Wisconsin to earn this prestigious accolade. Her remarkable performance has been pivotal in leading the Badgers to a third consecutive national championship game against Ohio State. Notably, this is only the second time in the award's history that all three finalists hailed from one school, with Wisconsin teammates Laila Edwards and Caroline Harvey also in the running. O'Brien's achievement highlights her exceptional playmaking skills and leadership, and she hopes to conclude her college career with a national title.
