Warriors Re-sign Kuminga; Eligible for Mid‑January Trade
Jonathan Kuminga ended a roughly three-month restricted free-agent standoff by signing a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors worth about $46–48.5 million that includes a second-year team option and trade-related provisions reportedly making him eligible to be moved after mid-January. Kuminga and his camp pursued sign-and-trade options this summer; he has returned to practice and changed his jersey to No. 1. The contract preserves roster and salary flexibility and many outlets view the deal’s structure and waived protections as making Kuminga a likely trade asset if circumstances dictate. Golden State also added veterans Al Horford, De'Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II and Seth Curry as the club tries to maximize a narrowing championship window around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
