The alleged irregularities involve secret payments related to transfers of players like Eden Hazard, Willian, and Samuel Eto'o, which were uncovered by the new owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, during their 2022 takeover. These payments were reportedly not recorded to avoid FFP breaches and were flagged to both the Premier League and UEFA, leading to a prior settlement of £8.6 million with UEFA. Chelsea argues that the breaches occurred under previous ownership and emphasize their transparency and cooperation with the investigations. An outcome is expected by March, with the club optimistic about avoiding sporting sanctions.
