Two Stabbings Injure Men in Washington Square, Poughkeepsie Parks
A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen during a dispute in Washington Square Park on Monday evening. Police say the altercation began as a verbal argument between two Brooklyn men, Keeshawn Grantnesbitt and Marquese Haynes, which escalated into violence, with Grantnesbitt allegedly using Haynes' dropped knife to stab him. Both men were arrested, with Grantnesbitt charged with assault and Haynes facing charges of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. In a separate incident in Poughkeepsie, a 33-year-old man suffered a serious slash wound near Pershing Park and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries; the suspect remains at large as police continue to investigate.
