Ivan Juric Appointed Atalanta Head Coach Replacing Gasperini
Atalanta has appointed Ivan Juric as their new head coach on a two-year contract following the departure of Gian Piero Gasperini, who left after nine years to become Roma's head coach. Juric, 49, returns to Italian football after a brief and challenging tenure at Southampton, where he was sacked following the club's relegation from the Premier League. Juric has a long history with Gasperini, having played under him and previously replaced him at Genoa in 2016. Atalanta enjoyed significant success under Gasperini, including a Europa League victory in 2024 and consistent top-tier finishes, setting a high bar for Juric. Juric brings extensive Serie A experience with stints at Hellas Verona, Torino, and a short spell at Roma before moving to Southampton. His appointment is part of a wider reshuffle in Serie A coaching roles this summer, including Massimiliano Allegri's return to AC Milan and Simone Inzaghi's departure from Inter.
