Florida AG Launches Combat Violent Extremism Portal

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas have launched the Combat Violent Extremism Portal, an online platform allowing residents to anonymously report politically motivated threats by submitting screenshots, videos, or other evidence directly to the Office of Statewide Prosecution. The initiative aims to proactively address and prevent political violence, with prosecutors reviewing submissions to pursue legal action where appropriate. The portal is not intended for emergencies, for which residents are advised to call 911. This effort follows the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which has intensified scrutiny on politically motivated violence and led to investigations into educators who have made inflammatory or violent remarks online. Kamoutsas emphasized accountability for educators promoting violence, while Statewide Prosecutor Brad McVay assured swift action against threats violating Florida law. The campaign reflects growing concerns about escalating political extremism nationally and aims to protect Floridians from such threats while balancing free speech considerations.
