Duke, Duchess of Edinburgh visit Nepal, promote UK ties

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are currently on a six-day visit to Nepal, aimed at strengthening Nepal-UK bilateral relations and promoting the country's natural beauty and culture. During their tour, they have engaged with local communities, presented Duke of Edinburgh awards to Nepali students, and visited tech companies and animation studios in Kathmandu, including Incessant Rain Studios, where they interacted with young animators. The couple also addressed climate challenges facing Nepal, particularly the waste issues on Mount Everest, and learned about sustainable practices in agriculture from ICIMOD scientists. Their visit includes a ceremonial planting of a magnolia tree, alongside those planted by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1986. The Duchess has been noted for her elegant outfits that reflect Nepalese culture, while both royals have expressed a proactive interest in the country’s environmental concerns. Overall, their trip seeks to enhance cultural ties and showcase Nepal’s potential on the global stage.
