Siemens CEO Agustin Escobar Family Killed in NYC Helicopter Crash
Agustin Escobar, President and CEO of Siemens Spain, along with his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children, tragically died in a helicopter crash in the Hudson River shortly after taking off for a sightseeing tour from Manhattan. The Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV helicopter experienced a mid-air structural failure, leading to its crash just 15 minutes into the flight. Witnesses reported seeing the helicopter breaking apart in the air before plunging into the water. All six individuals aboard, including the pilot, lost their lives in this devastating incident, which has drawn condolences from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the global business community. Escobar was recognized for his significant contributions to Siemens, having over 25 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The cause of the crash is under investigation by local authorities.
