Typhoon Krathon in Taiwan

Typhoon Krathon has caused significant disruption in Taiwan, particularly in the southwestern city of Kaohsiung, where it made landfall, bringing record-breaking winds and heavy rainfall. As a result, the city and neighboring Pingtung County declared multiple days off work to address flooding, clear debris, and restore services, with over 100,000 households reported without power. While the typhoon has weakened to a tropical depression, northern coastal and mountainous areas remain under a heavy rain advisory due to ongoing risks of landslides and flooding. The death toll stands at two with one person still missing, raising concerns over the storm's unusual trajectory which struck Taiwan's flat west coast rather than the typical east coast. In one instance, a resident reported unprecedented wind and flooding levels, emphasizing the storm's severity. As recovery efforts continue, most of Taiwan has resumed normal operations, though Kaohsiung still faces challenges in its recovery.
