Croatia plans £515 million railway modernization project

The Coedmore Bridge reconstruction is progressing well, with a completion target set for May, as announced by community liaison officer Nolwandle Gcaba. The project, funded by a R48 million allocation from the National Treasury, includes improvements such as pedestrian walkways. Meanwhile, in Leeds, the Station Road bridge will be demolished and rebuilt to accommodate new electrification infrastructure, causing temporary road and rail closures from March to November. This reconstruction is part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade aimed at enhancing connectivity across northern towns and cities. In Gwynedd, a feasibility study has identified a preferred route for reinstating a train-tram service between Bangor and Afon Wen, highlighting significant engineering challenges and a potential multi-billion pound cost. The study aims to address infrastructure requirements to facilitate an hourly train service along the route, which has been defunct since the 1960s.
