Truck Driver Charged in Fatal Gdansk Pileup

Polish prosecutors are preparing to charge a 37-year-old truck driver responsible for a catastrophic accident on the S7 highway near Gdansk that left four dead, including two young boys aged 7 and 10, and injured 15 others. The collision, which occurred after 11 p.m. on Friday, involved a total of 21 vehicles and was triggered when the truck collided with a car, leading to a chain reaction. Investigators noted that the truck was traveling at 89 kph in a zone with a speed limit of 80 kph and that the driver did not brake before the impact. The driver was found to be sober and was arrested at the scene, with further toxicological tests underway. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to assess the situation and identify the other victims. The affected section of the highway is expected to remain closed for an extended period due to ongoing police work.
