Spaceballs 2 Reunites Original Cast, Begins 2027 Production

Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced the cast and begun production on the highly anticipated sequel to the 1987 cult classic "Spaceballs," set for release in 2027. The film will see the return of original stars including Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet, Bill Pullman as Lone Starr, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, Mel Brooks as Yogurt, and George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz, alongside new cast members Lewis Pullman, Keke Palmer, Anthony Carrigan, and Josh Gad, who is also co-writing and producing the film. Notably, this marks Rick Moranis's first live-action film appearance in nearly 30 years, a return welcomed by fans. The sequel will introduce a new generation of characters, with Lewis Pullman rumored to play the son of Lone Starr and Vespa. Josh Gad and co-writers Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez have hinted that the story will incorporate elements from the Star Wars sequel trilogy and other sci-fi references. Directed by Josh Greenbaum, the film is described humorously as a "Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film," continuing the franchise's comedic legacy.
