Two men released after dissident republican arrests in Cork
Two men in their 40s arrested in Cork during an operation targeting dissident republican activity have been released without charge, as confirmed by gardaí. The operation began with the stopping of a vehicle, leading to the first arrest, followed by the second arrest during searches of a local forest. Subsequent follow-up searches occurred at eight residences in Cork city, resulting in the recovery of several evidential items. Both men were detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, but gardaí have stated that investigations are ongoing. A file is being prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding the case. The operation involved multiple units, including the garda dog unit and air support.
