Sri Lanka, China Sign 15 Cooperation Agreements

During a recent visit to Beijing, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Chinese President Xi Jinping to strengthen economic ties, resulting in the signing of 15 cooperation agreements. These agreements focus on economic and technological development, aligning with China's Belt and Road Initiative and Sri Lanka's 2030 Digital Economy Blueprint. Dissanayake emphasized the investment opportunities in Sri Lanka and assured support for Chinese investors. His visit follows a recent trip to India, as he seeks to navigate Sri Lanka's economic crisis and restructure its debt with international lenders, including the IMF. The collaboration marks a continuation of Sri Lanka's reliance on Chinese investments, which have previously funded significant infrastructure projects. Both leaders expressed commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and achieving mutual development goals.
