German Startup DeepL Launches Autonomous AI Agent for Business Workflows
German AI startup DeepL, known for its AI-powered translation services, is expanding into general AI agents designed to automate repetitive and time-consuming business tasks across various departments such as sales, finance, marketing, HR, and localization. The new product, called DeepL Agent, operates autonomously within users' digital environments, responding to natural language commands and interacting with standard computer tools like keyboards, browsers, and mice to complete complex workflows securely and independently. Currently in beta testing with some of DeepL's customers, including Fortune 500 companies, the agent aims to provide a highly efficient and accurate digital assistant that improves over time and offers controls for real-time monitoring and human approval for critical decisions. CEO Jarek Kutylowski emphasizes that this move leverages DeepL's extensive AI research background and positions the company to compete with major AI players such as OpenAI, Microsoft, and Anthropic in the enterprise AI agent market. The agent's multilingual capabilities and focus on security and accuracy reflect DeepL's commitment to extend beyond translation into broader business process automation. DeepL's valuation reached $2 billion in 2024, underscoring its growing presence in the competitive AI landscape.
