A Sacramento man, Brandon Torres-Mendoza, 23, was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly stabbing another passenger multiple times on an Amtrak train as it approached Fairfield. The incident, reported around 10:30 p.m., left a 21-year-old male victim in critical condition due to two stab wounds to the chest. Police discovered a second individual holding the knife, who was another victim that had bravely subdued Torres-Mendoza until authorities arrived. The suspect is facing charges including attempted murder, false imprisonment, and a violation of post-release community supervision. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and neither victim was known to Torres-Mendoza. The Fairfield Police Department and Amtrak police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
