India Inaugurates First Private Military Aircraft Plant

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first private military aircraft manufacturing facility, the Tata Aircraft Complex, in Vadodara. This facility will produce the Airbus C-295 aircraft, marking a significant step in India's defense and aerospace manufacturing ambitions and enhancing India-Spain relations. The production is part of a $2.5 billion deal signed in 2021, with the first aircraft expected to roll out in 2026, and plans for future exports. Modi emphasized the facility's role in the 'Make in India, Make for the World' initiative, which aims to transform India into a global manufacturing hub. Sanchez highlighted the partnership's potential to attract more European companies to India. The facility is also expected to create thousands of jobs and contribute to the complete lifecycle of aircraft manufacturing, including assembly, testing, and maintenance.
