A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations helicopter made an emergency landing in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, on July 26. The helicopter, which was patrolling the Rio Grande, experienced an unspecified issue leading to the emergency descent. Both the pilot and a Border Patrol Observer, aged 41 and 43, were injured but managed to walk across the Rio Grande back to Texas, where they received medical treatment and were later released in stable condition. The exact cause of the incident remains unclear, and it is uncertain if Mexican officials assisted. CBP has stated that all personnel are accounted for and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
