Amazon to Adapt King's Carrie with Flanagan

Amazon MGM Studios is developing a new eight-episode TV series adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 novel 'Carrie', with Mike Flanagan as showrunner and co-executive producer. This marks the fifth adaptation of the iconic novel and follows Flanagan's previous collaborations with King on projects like 'The Life of Chuck' and 'Doctor Sleep'. The series will offer a 'bold and timely reimagining' of the story, focusing on Carrie White, a high school girl who endures bullying and discovers her telekinetic powers. The adaptation aims to delve deeper into characters' backgrounds and explore new aspects of the story not previously shown in films. The show will stream on Amazon Prime Video, although a release date has not yet been announced. This project is part of Flanagan and Trevor Macy's ongoing deal with Amazon, which also includes a series adaptation of 'The Dark Tower'.
