Mother, Boyfriend Sentenced for Child Abuse Deaths

In Singapore, Foo Li Ping was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the prolonged abuse and death of her four-year-old daughter, Megan Khung. Foo's boyfriend, Wong Shi Xiang, received a 30-year sentence and 17 cane strokes for his role in Megan's death and other offenses. The abuse included physical violence, deprivation, and humiliation, ultimately resulting in Megan's death from a punch by Wong. After Megan's death, the couple attempted to incinerate her body to hide the crime. In a separate case in the UK, Melissa Wilband was convicted of manslaughter for shaking her four-month-old daughter, Lexi, to death. Lexi died from brain bleeding, and Wilband's former boyfriend, Jack Wheeler, was acquitted of related charges.
