Chile Declares State of Emergency Due to Forest Fires

Intense forest fires have killed at least 19 people and destroyed 1,100 homes in Chile's central and southern regions. The fires affected Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, where firefighters and volunteers are working to contain them. Interior Minister Carolina Tohá declared a state of disaster in two provinces of the Valparaíso region. Authorities are struggling to access affected areas and have not confirmed the final death toll.
