Glen Grant unveils $50,000 65-Year-Old Scotch whisky
The Glen Grant distillery has launched the Splendours Collection with its inaugural release of a 65-year-old single malt whisky, distilled in 1958 and limited to just 151 handcrafted decanters priced at $50,000 each. This whisky, aged in a single French oak butt, is celebrated for its unique flavor profile featuring aromas of treacle, blackberries, and sandalwood, and a palate of fruitcake and orange. The decanters are designed by John Galvin and Glasstorm, resembling a Mobius strip, and are engraved with Himalayan Blue Poppies, symbolizing the quest for excellence and honoring the distillery's heritage. Master Distiller Greig Stables emphasized the whisky's rarity and the distillery's continuous commitment to traditional whisky-making methods. A live-painting performance titled 'Seasons' by artist group Random International was held to celebrate the launch, showcasing the intersection of art and whisky. The Glen Grant also plans further releases in the Splendours Collection, highlighting its rarest whiskies over time.
