Jatiya Party Headquarters Burned in Dhaka Clashes
The central office of the Jatiya Party, part of the coalition led by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was set on fire during protest clashes in Dhaka on Thursday night. Tensions escalated after the Jatiya Party announced a planned rally, prompting demonstrators, aligned with the Chhatra Sramik Janata organization, to march in opposition. Witnesses reported vandalism at the party headquarters, including the destruction of signage and images of party founder H.M. Ershad. Shakiluzzaman, a leader of the opposition Gono Audhikar Parishad, accused Jatiya Party members of instigating violence by throwing bricks. Fire services quickly extinguished the flames, while police and military forces were deployed to maintain order. The incident highlights ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh following Hasina's ouster amid public protests and violence that have claimed numerous lives.
