Angel Reese Sets WNBA Rebound Record in Sky Victory over Sparks
Angel Reese led the Chicago Sky to a 92-85 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks with a season-high 24 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and one steal, marking her fourth consecutive double-double and further solidifying her as a dominant force in the WNBA. Reese became the first player in WNBA history to record at least 15 rebounds in four straight games and joined elite company with three consecutive games of 15-plus points and rebounds, while also breaking into the Sky's all-time top 10 for rebounds in just her second season. The Sky's supporting cast included Ariel Atkins with 20 points, Rachel Banham with 13 points, and Elizabeth Williams contributing 12 points and nine rebounds. For the Sparks, Kelsey Plum scored 22 points but struggled from the field, while Dearica Hamby posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The game was also notable for the Sparks' halftime ceremony retiring Candace Parker's No. 3 jersey, honoring the two-time MVP and WNBA champion who played for both the Sparks and the Sky during her career. Despite the loss, the Sparks had solid contributions from Azura Stevens and Emma Cannon, but they were unable to overcome Chicago’s strong second-half surge led by Reese.
