Rescue efforts underway as severe flooding hits Clarksville, Virginia, Kentucky

A powerful winter storm has caused significant flooding across Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia, with Clarksville seeing major impacts as floodwaters from the Red River and Cumberland River rise to alarming levels. In Virginia, over 100 rescues have been reported, particularly in Tazewell County, where swiftwater rescue teams have been working tirelessly to evacuate residents from inundated homes. Local officials, including State Senator Travis Hackworth, described the situation as devastating, with many businesses and homes affected. In Washington County, Kentucky, rescue teams successfully saved four individuals, including a child, from floodwaters, while additional rescues were also reported in Knox County. Evacuations and shelter provisions are in place across affected regions, with emergency crews preparing for ongoing challenges related to recovery and cleanup. The United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region is providing support services to those impacted by the flooding.
