Hitman Receives Life Sentence for Surrey Murder of Former Air India Suspect

Tanner Fox, one of the hitmen hired to kill Ripudaman Singh Malik, a former suspect in the 1985 Air India bombing, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for 20 years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. Alongside his accomplice Jose Lopez, who also pleaded guilty, Fox was found to have deliberately planned the murder, which took place on July 14, 2022, as Malik sat in his vehicle in Surrey, British Columbia. During the sentencing, Malik's family urged Fox to reveal the identities of those who contracted the killing, expressing fear and anxiety over the lack of answers. The prosecution confirmed that Fox and Lopez were financially compensated for the murder but did not disclose who hired them. Malik had previously been acquitted of charges related to the Air India bombings, which resulted in the deaths of 331 people in 1985. The case remains shrouded in mystery, as the true masterminds behind Malik's assassination have yet to be identified.
