Ten-Year-Old Boy Dies After Choking on Gummy Candy in Penang

A 10-year-old boy, Mohamad Fahmi Hafiz Mohammad Fakhruddin, tragically passed away after choking on an eyeball-shaped gummy candy in Penang, Malaysia. He was initially in critical condition at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Penang Hospital following the incident, which occurred while he was at school on February 20. Despite efforts to revive him, his family was informed that if there were no signs of improvement, treatment would be halted. His aunt confirmed his passing at 11 PM on the same day. The boy’s aunt and father expressed their heartbreak over the incident, highlighting the dangers posed by such candies. The family plans to bury him in his grandmother's hometown after completing the necessary hospital procedures.
