Wilyer Abreu Wins Gold Glove for Red Sox
Wilyer Abreu of the Boston Red Sox has been awarded the American League Gold Glove for right field, making him the first rookie Red Sox player to win since Fred Lynn in 1975. Abreu led all AL right fielders with significant defensive statistics, including 17 defensive runs saved and tying for the major league lead in outs above average. Jarren Duran also received a Gold Glove nomination for his impressive defense but lost to Daulton Varsho. Meanwhile, Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman won his first Gold Glove Award, marking him as the second third baseman in Astros history to earn this accolade. Bregman led AL third basemen in multiple defensive categories, including assists and fielding percentage. Both players are now eligible for the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award, with fan voting ongoing until November 7.
