Netanyahu Orders Strikes Amid Fragile Gaza Ceasefire

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered “powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip immediately,” raising the risk that the fragile ceasefire will collapse. The escalation follows a dispute over Hamas’s return of deceased hostages — including a 48-hour ultimatum from former President Donald Trump — with Israeli officials saying Hamas returned only partial remains and alleging some discoveries were staged. The Israeli military released drone footage it says shows militants staging the discovery of a different hostage, increasing domestic calls for military action.
