New Braunfels Police Fatally Shoot Man Lunging With Weapon
A 33-year-old man from Spring, Texas, was shot and killed by New Braunfels police officers on Saturday after allegedly brandishing a sharp weapon and lunging at them during a response to a disturbance call at the Sage Apartments. Police arrived around 4:15 p.m. following reports of a dispute between a man and a woman. Both officers fired their weapons after the suspect allegedly threatened them, and despite immediate life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among the officers or bystanders. The names of the suspect and the involved woman have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The officers, who have a combined four years of experience with the department, have been placed on administrative leave as investigations by the New Braunfels Police Department and Texas Rangers proceed.
