The plot was meticulously planned over Telegram, revealing their intent to extort money from Kashti, whom they perceived as wealthy due to his Jewish heritage. Kashti described the attack as his 'own personal October 7,' referencing the recent violence against Israel. Judge Catherine Richards condemned the crime, noting its sophisticated planning and the targeting of Kashti based on his identity. The men pleaded guilty to kidnapping charges and were apprehended after fleeing the scene when Kashti's taxi driver raised the alarm.
