Andhra Pradesh has set a world record by conducting Gram Sabhas in 13,326 village panchayats on August 23, 2024, a feat recognized by the World Records Union. The initiative, undertaken by the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department within 100 days of the new government taking office, involved widespread public participation and approved projects worth approximately Rs 4,500 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan received the official recognition and medal from WRU's Christopher Taylor Croft in Hyderabad. The Gram Sabhas represent a significant exercise in grassroots governance, with resolutions passed for various community development projects aimed at benefiting around 54 lakh families. This achievement highlights the state government's commitment to enhancing local governance and community involvement. Pawan Kalyan emphasized the importance of ongoing community discussions for village development moving forward.
