Covington, Mesa Fire Departments Grieve Loss of Chiefs

The Mesa Fire and Medical Department is mourning the loss of Firefighter Mark Keller, who was found deceased while on duty on the morning of May 6. Keller, who began his career in 1990, served the Mesa community with dedication for 35 years. Department leadership, local firefighter unions, peer support services, and chaplains are providing support to Keller's family and colleagues following his passing. Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman, who worked alongside Keller, and Fire Chief Mary Cameli both expressed deep sorrow and highlighted Keller's longstanding commitment and positive impact on the community. Community members also shared personal stories of Keller's kindness and professionalism during emergency responses. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
