Bharat Biotech opens India’s first Cell and Gene Therapy facility in Hyderabad

Bharat Biotech International Limited has inaugurated India's first vertically integrated Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) facility in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, with a $75 million investment. This state-of-the-art facility aims to expand Bharat Biotech's focus from vaccines to advanced therapies for conditions such as cancer and genetic disorders. The CGT facility will support the development of therapies like CD19 CAR T Cell Therapy and aims to address significant clinical needs through innovative treatments. Expected to begin operations in three months, the facility will also emphasize cost-effectiveness to cater to the price-sensitive Indian market. The company plans to produce high-titer viral vectors essential for these therapies, leveraging its expertise in vaccine manufacturing. Bharat Biotech anticipates that the cell and gene therapy market will see significant growth, projecting a rise to $117.46 billion by 2034.
