Ritu Bahri has become the first woman Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, succeeding Vipin Sanghi, and was sworn in by Governor Gurmit Singh. She was previously a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and has come from a family of lawyers, including a grandfather who was a legislator. Bahri was recommended for the position by the Supreme Court collegium and has served in several legal positions prior to her elevation as Chief Justice.
