Dooley Charged with Carjacking Huntington Beach Police Cruiser, Leading Chase

Lilton Bernardt Dooley, a 56-year-old man with a criminal history, was charged with carjacking a Huntington Beach police vehicle and leading officers on a chase. The incident began when police attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation shortly before midnight on Monday, but he fled the scene. After ditching his own vehicle, Dooley allegedly stole a squad car and drove to Lakewood, where he was eventually arrested. He faces multiple felony charges, including five counts of assault with a weapon on a peace officer, leading police on a chase, and resisting arrest. Dooley has previous convictions, including attempted robbery and making criminal threats. His next court appearance is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on February 3.
