Rutgers Student Found Critically Injured; Fraternity House Condemned
On Oct. 15 at about 12:26 a.m., Rutgers police responded to a disconnected 911 call at a private residence in New Brunswick and found a 19-year-old Rutgers student injured and unresponsive. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and remains in critical condition. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Rutgers Police are investigating; officials have not released details about the nature of his injuries or what occurred. Rutgers’ Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs issued a cease-and-desist for Alpha Sigma Phi, and the fraternity’s College Avenue house was condemned by the city; students reported a heavy police presence and expressed concern about how the episode reflects on Greek life. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and asked that people contact Detective Richard McNulty at 848-932-1889 or Detective Javier Morillo at 732-745-8843.
